Here I wanted to share some tips and tricks for Nordic winter driving with a Nissan Cube.
Obviously to survive the winter weather conditions you’ll need a decent set of winter tyres and you should grease with silicone all the door and trunk weather strips. If you park outside, you should consider installing an engine block heater to preheat the engine before starting. Apart from these, there are some Cube specific things to look out for!
Worn mudguard
Mudguards - If you have the Nissan factory front mudguards fitted, they will collect a lot of snow and gravel and can even break. If you have them, you should carefully inspect them at all stops to make sure that there is no excessive snow/ice/gravel between the mudguard and the tyre. Otherwise you could end up with a locked up tyre and a dangerous situation!
Hole in the rear wheel well
Rear Wheel Wells - There is an opening on both of the wells that will allow gravel, dust, and snow to accumulate behind the rear bumper. When washing the car during winter time, remember to also give these places a good wash!
Wheel Well Fenders - The painted metallic inner sides of the fenders would not mind being protected from gravel hitting them during winter. I’ve used transparent tape that has been designed for just this purpose.

Driver’s Side Shock Absorber Top - Due to the design of the windshield drainage, water will accumulate on top of the shock absorber on the driver’s side. Nissan sells a cap for this, if you do not have this, I recommend to get it! The part number is 54330-ED000.
Rustproofing treatment - If the car has not yet started to rust after importing it to the North I recommend highly to take it to a professional rustproofing shop where they’ll treat the bottom of the chassis and wheel wells and insides of all doors with a rustproofing solution.
